Josh Turner is set to play Opry Mills’ finale reopening event on May 5.
But don’t get confused – the mall officially reopens March 29.
Executives at the shopping mall plan to spend much of April celebrating Opry Mills’ return through special sales and unveiling new focal points and activity centers throughout the mall.
The reopening festivities will culminate with an event they’ve dubbed Summer Nights, which will feature Turner in concert followed by an elaborate fireworks display beginning at 6 p.m. May 5. The “Long Black Train” singer will play at about 8:30 p.m.
“Like so many Nashvillians, our band, crew and families were affected by the devastating flood in 2010, so when I was asked to participate in the reopening of Opry Mills, it was an easy call,” Turner said. “A lot of folks lost their jobs in the flood, and I’m excited about the employment opportunities brought about with the emergence of these new businesses. It’s the best reason I can think of to invite everyone out to celebrate with their community.”
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods to donate to Second Harvest Food Bank.
Turner’s new album, Punching Bag , will be out in June. His current single “Time is Love” is at country radio.
