Although millions of loyal viewers start their mornings with the Today show, I know that this Monday March 19, 2012 must have attracted even more viewers than ever thanks to the appearance of JOSH TURNER in studio 1A at Rockefeller Center in New York City. Breathe of fresh air after the opinionated, and mouthy lady KLG…how nice if Hoda could have taken some time off also, scaling the great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt while her clueless coworker’s on holiday and let J.OTIS host the show alone. However, lucky for Hoda to have JOSH as a partner while her booze buddy KLG gets to rest and relax her jaws while indulging her addiction in the Keys. After watching the Firecracker video, we got our first look at JOSH wearing a favorite fashion his black-leather-bomber jacket, with a black carefree masculine V-cut T-shirt, blue jeans and black Ariat boots absolute Perfection! JOSH was an incredible co-host and this was the best fourth segment I’ve ever seen on the Today show. Another challenge for JOSH, but he makes it look so easy laughing, joking and commenting on the various topics throughout the program. No doubt the Today show ratings will soar after this morning. I don’t know what Hoda was drinking, as she welcomed JOSH she said, ‘How are you cowboy’, anyway she managed to praise his 4 albums and mentioned his # 1 hits YM and WYGWM then asked about his lowest note A-flat and brought up a comparison in range with Barry White. I’m so happy that JOSH got the Today show TV opportunity, especially since so much is happening at this time for him with new music, Punching Bag CD, and Time Is Love video. Hoda indicated right after Today that GAC would be premiering his new video TIL. I’ve always enjoyed when JOSH tells a story, because it also reveals so much about him allowing everyone to see his sense of humor and listen to his witty anecdotes. That was a funny and delightful story, I’ve never heard about Johnny Cash and John Anderson hunting wild hogs in Florida and his daddy story about almost missing his plane because of Hampton’s mishap smashing a finger in a drawer this morning having to calm him down before he left for the airport. His great one of a kind voice, plus the growing respect of a younger, a mature and an elder audience keeps JOSH a treasured part of country music today. I was disappointed that JOSH didn’t perform, but the segues to and from the breaks made up many of my favorite JOSH songs; F, AOM, H, WDWJD, YM, EC, and I believe PB. He has had success and fame not only in singing/songwriting, but in many areas of his life, personal, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual. It was a beautiful wedding photo shown as he talked about his almost 9 year marriage with Jennifer during (wedding fashions) and in (fan question) when asked about using a device on his mic he spoke about Vanderbilt/Belmont voice training days, he said his voice got ‘deeper, bigger, richer and healthier, but prior to those days sounded like Mickey Mouse’ and no he doesn’t use any special gimmicks on his mic or guitar. With his home spun wit and genuine southern manner, he has emerged a star who always raises a positive awareness through his powerful and inspiring music. When talking about Russell Brand throwing his phone, JOSH’s comment was ‘Yea, I’ve never thrown my phone…something about mutual respect’ for others. It was a very thoughtful question he asked the criminal novel writer Kate White referring to Jennifer, ‘so give me a tip when I get home.’ And who doesn’t enjoy his hilarious, quick remarks like when the fan requested to hear him sing the phone book and JOSH in a flash came back with ‘as long as it’s not the NYC phone book. The Today show offered a chance for JOSH’s star to shine bright and let him unleash his charming personality for all to embrace and he brought it. Bravo! The first time I saw JOSH was at the mother church in Nashville, Tn. and that was a nice special memory I’ll keep of him always. I love his singing and it was truly magical seeing him perform on that special stage. The opportunity to see this legend of country music my first time at the Ryman Auditorium was an amazing gift and something I’ll always be grateful for. And all these years later, I’m still a star-struck old man obsessed with both the music and with JOSH TURNER. I know JOSH was thrilled being with Hoda on the Today show and he showed considerable aplomb in the role of co-host. I would be forgetting a much admired aspect of my hero if I forgot to reveal JOSH showing his appreciation and giving Hoda gifts…a pair of Ariat Boots and a gift card to Cracker Barrel. His voice and good looks are made for TV and commanded my attention along with millions of fans.
