Ok, I cannot be the only one who does not like the new album title. Maybe my husband and I are too much alike but when we heard him announce the title back in March at a concert, we both were like, are you serious. And my sister in law was at the same concert as well, and had the same opinion as well. We also did not like the opening of the concert saying "in this ring....etc." I'm thrilled that we have new music to look forward to but the title of the album just disappoints me and honestly if i'm speaking to someone else about music, i'm not gonna want to say, you really want to run out and get the new album from JT called "Punching Bag." I heard the song in concert, and of course it was my first time to hear it, but it didn't strike me as a strong song that would be on the radio. I've heard him sing other things for the first time before it hit radio, and this song just didn't give me a good vibe. But often I find the album title song to be the worst song on the whole album. Haywire was one of my least favorites for example, but it was a decent song. I know I couldn't ever be a song writer or singer, but I just think Josh could have a better title for the CD and I do know good music when I hear it! I may not sound sincere in my post but it is my honest opinions and I only want the best for Josh and I hope the CD does well. Anyone else on this board, just not like the name of the album?
Maybe I was just in the moment of him singing something new and I didn't know a single word and I absolutely hate when that happens. I'm sure i'll receive alot of backlash for this post but I just cannot believe the title of this album. I've spoken to a couple of other people who are fans, and they've had the same opinion as me. I know the song has meaning to Josh. I've been busy lately, so I haven't read any articles, etc, and i'm thinking that he means he's been a punching bag for the music industry and how he remains to be a traditional artist. The title just makes me think "Weak" not "Strong." But one positive is that the album cover is cute though :) I know my little opinion means nothing and the CDS are already made and ready to be shipped out and in storage in a warehouse somewhere.
I would also like if this website would add a contact section or link to someone who can help you. I went to MCN's website which looks more like an advertising website for MCN, asking questions about the Fan Club Party and have never received a reply back. I tried to buy tickets and it said access denied (this was awhile back). The Fan Club conveniently let FCP tickets go on sale the day my membership expired...which hmmmmm was the same day FCP tickets went on sale last year if i'm not mistaken. So I wasn't sure if I was getting the access denied because I hadn't renewed my membership but I was not going to pay $10 to renew a membership if the FCP tickets were sold out already and I could not find any way to officially contact anyone from MCN on this website. Plus I wanted to pay for the party tickets and membership all in one transaction. Since this new website was created it is my main complaint- where is the help? Does no one want to help us? I shouldn't have to scroll thru blog posts to find an email address for help Sorry for my complaints and being negative.
As mentioned before, I cannot wait to get my CD in the mail. I've preordered it from Amazon for $9.99 and Amazon alreadys credits you back money if the CD is cheaper anywhere's else plus they give you a $1 Amazon MP3 credit I think and no taxes. I had an Amazon Gift Card for shopping with eBates making it an even sweeter deal :) The website deal is a good deal but then again, I don't like the words "Punching Bag" and that is why I don't have to have that tshirt.
I'd Like To Throw My Hat In
I'd Like To Throw My Hat In The Ring!
Since it is doubtful that JOSH will answer your blog about his album title, I feel passionate about defending his new album title ‘Punching Bag’. Sometimes negative vibes are contagious, so I want to show everyone reading this blog another view, that this fan absolutely loves the new title/song Punching Bag. If anyone read my review ‘Euphoric Evening w/JOSH TURNER’ you already know the positive reaction I experienced at Opry Mills on May 5 during Southern Night concert. I am sorry to hear you vocalize the opposite, and you certainly don’t have to like it, but when I read your unaffirmative, and unenthusiastic comments, I want to add a more favorable trajectory for PBs success. Your theory about JOSH being a punching bag for the music industry and weak, even while having opposition, I think the music industry is the punching bag for JOSH and to me no one is stronger than JOSH with his convictions about not compromising his character or beliefs. Since you mentioned you haven’t read much about what Punching Bag means, here’s a quote from the horse’s mouth…JT quote(‘The idea comes from one of those days that we all have, where everything just blows up in your face and nothing goes right. I had just had one of those days, and I came home and was standing in the closet with my wife and I unloaded on her about my day, ‘JOSH tells AOL's The Boot. ‘I told her, 'Sometimes I feel like a punching bag, like life is just beating me up.' When I said that, it struck me that it could be a huge song title. So I punched it into my phone and saved it. I held on to it until the right opportunity’). Like JOSH we’ve all had those days and I can remember the Southern Night concert when I first heard Punching Bag live on stage and saw the new intro, as I’ve previously expressed it was surreal and yeah…, we all must go on to win the battle(fight)! As I disagree with you over the album title Punching Bag, I delight in the less-than-usual title and found it not only thrilling, but very playful and strangely cheerful. What about Carrie, Kip, Kenny, and Zak? ‘Blown Away’?, ‘Up All Night’?, ‘Welcome To The Fishbowl’?, and ‘Uncaged’? These album titles aren’t flipping me out or turning me on as much as Punching Bag. I can’t wait to run out and purchase copies of Punching Bag and feel like the ‘winner takes all’ asking for Punching Bag rather than those album titles.
Also Paula, I’ve experienced something quite different in dealing with MCN than you describe. All I have to do is send MCN an email to receive a fast and courteous response. And I might add they have always been 100% helpful each time I’ve requested their assistance. Here’s a free tip to help you organize, instead of searching through blogs as you complained about for MCNs (Phone & Email) information, keep MCN on a post note/or important info near your computer. Gurl, their information is at the bottom of ‘every’ page on the website you only have to click on MCN to get the phone number and email address and so many nice people willing to calm your frustrations because you are denied access. What’s so difficult about clicking on a logo? I also struggle in this digital world, but I wouldn’t blame others for my shortcomings. If you don’t know how to use the tools provided on this site or if you can’t find the contact info posted on ‘every’ page right under your nose…that’s not MCNs fault! The MCN staff is professional hard working talented people who have plenty to offer all JOSH fans-they are so interested to make his fan club a fun place for all the members…so I sing songs of praise for their presence and support.
Paula, I’m not trying to negatively characterize your opinions, you seem to be able to do that all by yourself. It’s great to see a fan bring up an issue and have the courage to speak about it, even when I don’t agree, I appreciate it. I respect your right to dislike the album title, and I hope you are kind enough to allow my excitement to celebrate the album title. At least I know you aren’t a total pessimist and I am happy for you that you found something positive about the album even if it meant your being knocked-out by JOSH’s cute sensuality.
Sito, just what did I do to
Sito, just what did I do to ruffle your feathers? In anything I post, you always seem to add a twisted insult. In two of my most recent posts, i've had you tell me that I need to pray to a higher power, I have shortcomings, and that i'm a pessimist. Despite what you try to "nicely" imply, I don't ride the shortbus to work. I make it thru life just fine........ Everything is fine, as Josh Turner sings :)
I'm definitely no genius but I do know how to click on logos, and i'm very good at navigating the mighty internet. MCN failed to respond to me when I filled out a form on their site (I left them questions and my email address). Maybe it got lost in the cyberworld, but most likely it wasn't the correct place for me to get help but the MCN link provides little direction. I got to that form by clicking on that logo you mentioned in your post. And I do not like making long distance phone calls as you suggest. I was thinking maybe, just maybe the staff at MCN forgot to add a CONTACT and HELP link and would appreciate the suggestion from a fanclub member. Most websites nowadays, for any type of business, etc. have a help/contact link. How is a new fan to know to click on a MCN logo that says Music City Networks? I don't think the Blog or Tour Dates section was intended for fans to ask for help from MCN but it has turned out to be the case sometimes. Say what you want, but a HELP/Contact Us link directly on this website would be quite helpful for many fans. I've looked this website over and there is a contact area for inquiries about orders/purchases but nothing else. Logo gives you MCN's advertising website.
This website is their job. Josh plugs this website at every concert and it honestly is lacking. It's lacking interaction from fans and seems to lag in news. Josh deserves better. I actually cringe when I hear him advertise it at each concert- he honestly shouldn't have to sale the website, and merchandise booth while he's onstage performing. I've missed out on going to a concert because it was listed late on here. I would think that the 2-4 tickets I can generate from the business standpoint would be important to Josh in the longrun. He's providing the salary to a band any many staff.
Please keep your free tips to yourself, if you only intend to insult others.
P.S.
I didn't say I thought that Josh Turner would ever respond to my comments about the album title. I just wanted the opinions of more fans. If the 4 people I speak to about Josh Turner say negative things about the intro, and album title, I don't think i'm totally off my rocker. I also do no like hearing Josh state " I feel like a punching bag, like life is just beating me up."
